SCK System kept thousands of spare parts and maintenance items across several zones, each recorded in its own notebook and spreadsheet. What was physically on the shelf rarely matched the system, and technicians searched for parts by hand almost every time.
Starting from one set of codes and locations
Our team worked with the storekeepers to standardise item codes and storage locations (Location / Bin) across the whole warehouse, then label both the rack and the item with barcodes. One scan now tells a technician which zone the item is in and how many remain.
Scanning on every receipt and issue
Receiving, issuing and zone transfers all run on handheld mobile devices. Stock is deducted as soon as a transaction is saved, so nobody re-keys counts at the end of the day and every movement keeps a record of who took what and when.
- Role-based user rights so a requester cannot change stock balances.
- Min-Max reorder points that warn before a part runs out.
- Weekly cycle counts instead of one full stocktake a year.
What changed after go-live
Within the first quarter the time spent finding each part dropped noticeably, and the balances in the system matched the physical warehouse closely enough for the purchasing team to plan from it.
